Alice In Wonderland
by
Guildford Shakespeare Company - 2015

19 October - 7 November

Starting at St Mary's Church, Guildford

A new stage adaptation by Ant Stones & GSC

Directed by Charlotte Conquest | Designed by PJ McEvoy

Sound by Matt Eaton | Lighting by Declan Randall

This November marks 150 years since Alice fell down the rabbit-hole in Lewis Carroll’s wonderfully nonsensical creation Alice in Wonderland.

To celebrate this anniversary and Guildford’s unique relationship with Lewis Carroll, GSC have created an immersive theatrical experience where you will join Alice on her curious adventures in Wonderland.

For this unique production you’ll be starting in the very church where Carroll preached: St Mary’s…but that is only the beginning! From there you’ll follow Alice and the White Rabbit on a magical journey through Wonderland. Experience the Museum as you’ve never seen it before and just be careful you don’t lose your head in the Castle Keep…and who knows, by the end maybe you too may believe in “as many as six impossible things before breakfast”. Just like Alice!

Not just for kids! This curiously fabulous adventure is designed as much for adults as it is for Alices! ...just don't be late, and whatever you do, don't touch those jam tarts!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This is a promenade performance, visiting different venues; therefore part of the event will take place outside as you move between properties. Please ensure you wear sensible shoes for this. We regret that due to the limitations of the venues, this production is not suitable for wheelchair users. Those with limited mobility, please visit the Access page for more details. SEATING: this is a promenade production meaning that you will be moving with the action. Some seating will be provided in certain areas, but the performance is designed for audiences to enjoy a freer experience of the Alice story.

The Wonderland Project was founded by bootlegger and former sommelier, Matt Ahern. After years of selling wine to elite restaurants in the Western US, Ahern realized that there was something missing from most wine lists: a high quality wine made from high quality fruit, with enough refinement for the most discerning palette at an accessible cost. In 2010, unable to find just the right wine to fill this niche, Ahern decided to make it himself. With the help of pedigreed Sonoma grape growers, The White Queen was born. Previously available only at select restaurants, The White Queen is now available to enjoy at home.

Alice Gets Ticked Off

Hatter Tea Party by Bridgette Mongeon

Hatter Tea Party Sculpture

Just like Alice, she and her friends now will grow to be 8 feet tall.

Once the Sculpture is placed at the park every character interacts with the visitors sitting at the table. This is very hard to determine, especially when you are an 8 foot tall sculpture and the artist is sculpting the figures in pieces . Gabby suggested I pose with my head in the same position as the hatter and look at the fictitious guest at table. This will give me the angle of The eyes .

Sculptor Bridgette Mongeon is creating a monumental bronze sculpture of the Mad Hatter Tea Party. In honor of the 150th Anniversary of “Alice In Wonderland” she is hiding 150 elements in the sculpture.

Bridgette uses both traditional sculpting and digital processes. She will be using the same processes she used in creating a 15’ bronze tiger that she documented in her new book “3D Technology In Fine Art and Craft: Exploring 3D Printing, Scanning, Sculpting and Milling.”
